My approach
Therapy that takes you seriously.
There’s no single right way to do therapy. I draw from different evidence-informed approaches depending on what you’re experiencing, while paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and what’s happening in your body. What matters most is that the work feels useful, collaborative, and right for you.
What I believe about therapy
Therapy works best when it’s built on genuine trust. Before we focus on strategies or goals, I want to understand you: your history, your relationships, the patterns you’ve noticed, what has brought you here, and what you hope will feel different.
I also believe you are the expert on your own life. My role isn’t to tell you what to do. It’s to bring clinical knowledge and a different perspective, help you notice patterns that may be difficult to see from inside them, and work with you toward changes that make sense for your life.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or rigid to be effective. Some sessions may involve difficult emotions. Others may be practical, curious, reflective, or even surprisingly light. We work with what you need that day while keeping sight of where you want to go.
How sessions work
What you can expect
01
A free 15-minute consultation
Before booking a full session, we can have a brief conversation with no obligation. It’s a chance to tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
02
Your first session
Our first full session is about understanding what has brought you here. We’ll talk about your history, what you’re experiencing now, your relationships and strengths, and what you hope to get from therapy. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out.
03
Ongoing sessions at your pace
Sessions are typically 50 minutes. We’ll continue exploring what is happening, developing insight and practical tools, and adjusting the work as your needs change. There is no fixed timeline or one-size-fits-all process.
04
A collaborative process throughout
You’re an active part of the process. I’ll offer observations, questions, strategies, and different ways of understanding what you’re experiencing, while you help guide what we explore and what feels useful.
Therapeutic approaches
Evidence-informed, adapted to you.
I integrate different approaches depending on what you’re working through and what feels most useful to you. Therapy may involve understanding thoughts and patterns, exploring relationships and attachment, noticing what is happening in your body, processing trauma, or building practical skills for change.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT explores how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence one another. It can help identify patterns that have become automatic and develop more useful ways of responding to anxiety, depression, stress, and other challenges.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is a trauma-focused therapy that uses guided imagery and eye movements to help reduce the emotional and physical distress connected to painful memories and experiences.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes how past experiences can affect emotions, relationships, behaviour, and the nervous system. Safety, choice, trust, and your sense of control remain central throughout the work.
PACT-Informed Couples Therapy
PACT, the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy, looks closely at attachment, communication, nervous-system responses, and what happens between partners in real time. The goal is to help couples better understand their patterns and build greater security and connection.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Mindfulness helps develop greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment. It can support emotional regulation, reduce reactivity, and create more space between what you feel and how you respond.
Somatic & Attachment-Focused Approaches
Our experiences don’t live only in our thoughts. Somatic work pays attention to what is happening in the body, while attachment-focused therapy explores how early and current relationships can shape patterns of safety, connection, and emotional response.
What guides this work
Non-judgment
Whatever you bring into the room can be explored with curiosity rather than shame. You don’t need to edit your story or have the “right” way of talking about what you’re experiencing.
Honesty
Therapy can be kind and honest at the same time. I’ll share observations and gently help you notice patterns that may be difficult to see when you’re living inside them.
Collaboration
We’re working together. Your experiences, goals, feedback, and sense of what is or isn’t helping all shape the direction of therapy.
Pacing
There’s no predetermined schedule for healing. We’ll move at a pace that allows meaningful work without losing sight of safety and what feels manageable for you.
