Therapy That Meets You Where You Are
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be a place to slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin making sense of what feels difficult, painful, or stuck.
Meet Stephanie
A warm, collaborative space with room for the whole story.
I’m Stephanie Stevens, a Registered Provisional Psychologist and Canadian Certified Counsellor based in Alberta. I work with teens, adults, couples, and seniors, offering in-person counselling in Calgary and secure online therapy across multiple Canadian provinces and territories.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine connection. I don’t believe therapy should feel like someone is analysing you from across the room or handing you a checklist of what to fix. We work together to understand what is happening, where certain patterns may have come from, and what might help you move forward.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is an important part of the work. Feeling safe, understood, and respected matters. Therapy can be practical and structured when that is useful, or slower and more exploratory when you need space to process.
How I work
Therapy shaped around you, not the other way around.
There is no single template for good therapy. I draw from a range of evidence-informed approaches, including trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), PACT-informed couples work, mindfulness, somatic approaches, and attachment-focused therapy. Some sessions may be practical and skills-focused. Others may involve slowing down, noticing patterns, exploring relationships, or understanding how past experiences continue to show up in the present. The approach depends on you, your goals, and what feels most useful.
Individualized
Therapy is shaped around your goals, history, relationships, strengths, and what feels most useful to you.
Evidence-informed
I draw from established therapeutic approaches and adapt them thoughtfully to the person in front of me.
Relational
Trust and safety matter. I prioritise creating a genuine therapeutic relationship where you can speak openly and feel understood.
At your pace
There is no predetermined timeline. We explore experiences, emotions, and patterns at a pace that feels manageable and productive.
Areas I support
You don't have to name it perfectly to bring it here.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear problem they want help with. Other times something simply feels off, overwhelming, disconnected, or difficult to carry. You don’t need the perfect words or a diagnosis before reaching out. We can begin with what you know and work from there.

Why this work matters to me.
Before becoming a psychologist, I spent 25 years working as a dental hygienist. That experience taught me how much trust, safety, and human connection matter when someone feels vulnerable. It also gave me years of experience sitting with people who were anxious, uncomfortable, afraid, or simply needed someone to slow down and listen.
That understanding continues to shape the way I practise today. I’m interested in the person behind the symptoms, not just the problem that brought them through the door. My role is to help you understand yourself more clearly, work through what has been difficult, and build changes that make sense for your actual life. You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Sometimes people come because something hurts. Sometimes they feel disconnected, overwhelmed, stuck in a pattern, or simply know that life could feel different. All of those are valid places to begin.
Wondering if we might be a good fit?
I offer a free 15-minute consultation with no obligation. It’s a chance to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy, and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
